Hey lovely ladies,

Womanhood is very precious and overwhelming experience. And to enjoy it thoroughly one have to be happy and most importantly healthy. There are so many domains to be considered, to be healthy and intimate hygiene is one of its.

As I feel women often share tips on care of skin, hair and beauty, but sadly, the very important intimate hygiene is rarely a topic of conversation.

I strongly believe that maintaining the hygiene down there is extremely important for women, not just to feel fresh and clean, but to avoid unpleasant and sometimes dangerous health hazards.

During my clinical practice I come across many patients who are suffering from vaginal issues like discharge, infection etc. Initially they feel very shy and they don’t open up about the issues properly.

But after having conversation with all those patients, I realized that many women don’t consider vaginal care as separate from their regular hygiene routine. Whereas, proper vaginal care needs different habits as your vagina is delicate and prone to infection

So today, I’m going to share something about importance of intimate hygiene to be healthy, fit and gorgeous forever.

Here are few basic tips from my experience and knowledge which I feel very important to maintain good hygiene down there:

First of all let me tell you that your vagina has an acidic pH, more acidic than the skin of the rest of the body, which helps to keep good bacteria healthy and bad bacteria in control.

So if you follow proper hygiene routine you can avoid disturbing this pH balance and so help to avoid vaginal problems.

Most soaps and shower gels are made to maintain the natural pH value of the skin, which is 5.5. However, the normal pH value of a healthy vagina ranges from 3.8 to 4.5. Your intimate area is unique and if you use soaps or products which you are using on the rest of your body, you may disturb the natural vaginal rhythm, and may develop harmful bacteria.

As a result, some unwanted problems may occur like dryness, irritation, itching, pain, odor, abnormal discharge and infection. So, be cautious while buying hygiene products.

And I even feel that after any vigorous physical activity like swimming or working out you should definitely make sure that you change your innerwear too, to stay fresh and clean.

Wash only the outer parts of your vagina as it’s able to get ‘clean’ itself, so it isn’t necessary to wash it inside.

I highly recommend, you should wash your intimate parts at least once a day. When you have your period, make sure you wash it more with just hot water.

When you’re washing, don’t let the water to go directly towards the vagina, rather let it run down from the top of vagina to prevent bacteria to enter inside.

Always use a soft drying personal towel and don’t let others to use it.

Wear cotton innerwear, as everyone knows cotton fabric allows the skin to breathe. As synthetic materials prevent the circulation of air, increase humidity and thus create proper environment for the growth of bacteria. So wear cotton panty every day, and save those fancy panties only for special occasions.

I suggest, you make sure that you wash your vagina before and after sexual intercourse. Moreover, it is very important for your partner also to maintain a good hygiene.

One should go for pee after having sex. So it can prevent any bacteria to travel up n inside.

Personally I advise you to avoid being intimate with your partner when you have your period. This is especially important if you are prone to infections.

And last but not the least, During discussing about this with my friends and colleagues I get to know some weird thing that many ladies don’t change their pad for whole day or like 24 hours. You shouldn’t let yourself to stay with the same pad for more than 4 hours.

So make sure that you change your pad every 2-4 hours depending on your menstrual flow to keep yourself healthy, fit and fine.

I personally use VWash plus for my intimate hygiene. I find it very gentle, helpful and skin friendly. It has proper ph value require for vagina. It is enriched with tea tree oil and sea buckthorn oil which makes the wash very much useful and unique.

I conclude that healthy women make healthy and happy home and to be healthy, intimate hygiene play very important role in one’s life.

So this is it for today. I hope this will help you thoroughly clear your ideas about hygiene. I wish you all to be healthy, wealthy, wise and gorgeous as always.
